User Experience and Visual Design

Project Overview

Bastille is the leader in Enterprise threat detection through software-defined radio. They provide full visibility into the Internet of Radios inside an enterprise’s corporate airspace. Through patented software-defined radio and machine learning technology, Bastille senses, identifies and localizes threats, providing security teams the ability to accurately quantify risk and mitigate airborne threats that could pose a danger to customer data and network infrastructure.

I was brought onboard as an early employee and the first designer to lead the design efforts for the first version of Bastille Enterprise. Working side by side with the VP of product and lead engineer we were able to quickly test and iterate the product in preparation for various pilots we ran with financial organizations.

Challenge

Due to the nature of IOT security (or lack thereof), one of the biggest challenges did not revolve around the product directly. A bigger challenge was creating awareness and educating people around the fact that most IoT devices lacked basic security, which in turn acted as a gateway for potential hackers. This only became a bigger issue as more and more IoT devices got pushed to market. Through research we were able to construct put together various use cases which in turn allowed for us to build a product around.

Bastille Enterprise Solution

Along with a physical sensor that would be deployed within a corporate environment, the sensors would transmit information into the cloud which would then display via a UI for analysis.
